I was keeping regular notes about today's progress (or rather, lack of), but a certain little lady, whom I shall not name, got a hold of of my phone, and it's all gone. Darn.
Let's just say the first half of the day was a bit discouraging. Before his nap, he went once in the toilet and probably about five times in his undies or on the floor, including a poo.
Just before our lunch time, within about a 10 minute span, he peed three times, pooped once, Avie decided she needed to poop too, then changed her mind, then resisted getting dressed again... it was complete chaos. But soon we were all settled and eating, and all was well. Whew!
Jack woke from his nap about 2:30, his diaper dry. I took him to the toilet, which is where he did NOT want to go. But after some talking to and settling down, he finally went on without a problem, wanting to read a book. Not even a page in, he peed in the toilet! Whoo! So glad to have another success for the day.
3:40 pm - Eager to sit on the potty again, stayed a good 20 mins but didn't go.
4:10 - He wants my phone. I bribe him and say he can play with it on the potty. (Hey, you do what you've gotta do!) He pees! Wahoo!
5:12 - I ask Jack if he wants to go, we run in there, he trips... and pees in his pants. Darn. We were so close!
6 - I take him to go potty but he's already peed. How am I missing these? Had to of been in just the last couple minutes because he was dry when he got down from dinner.
6:20 - In the bath, he stands up, looks at me and pees, which he's never intentionally done before. This is good, right? Awareness.
6:40 - He poops... in his underwear.
7:20 - Wet his pants. Again.
8 - Tried for awhile to go again on the potty. No luck.
Day 2 tally: 9 misses (not counting in the bath... eh), 3 hits
Hoping tomorrow will be a GREAT day in our potty world.
What I learned today:
From my experience (you know, from potty training one other kid and all), I think it's actually going to be better potty training Jack sooner than later. I'm not saying for all kids, or that even my next kids will be potty trained this young, but where he was interested in it and initiated it, I think it's going to be easier for two reasons.
1. He is younger so he isn't at that defiant, wanting control age that they get to as they get older.
2. Potty training is hard no matter what. And really, I don't think these first two days doing Jack have been any different from when Avie was doing it at age 2. I'm glad we'll be able to get this over with sooner than later, and *hopefully* not have as many battles. It will already be something so familiar to him. That's the plan anyway.

I think he is doing pretty good and I think the tub incident was a success. The hardest part of potty training is getting them to remember/understand what it feels like before they actually pee. I hope it keeps going well. Good luck!!
ReplyDeleteI look up to you for potty training him so young. How nice to be done with diapers so soon! Good luck!
