Today is the end of our beginning.
After 5+ years, life as we've always known it, is over ... ... ... deep breaths ... ... ...
I am so proud of Spencer for what he's accomplished. Not just for the fact that he is graduating with a degree in Biology, but also because of the person he has become while getting his education. This probably sounds cheesy, but I 100% mean it.
Being beside him and watching his struggles and successes, triumphs and setbacks and the ways in which those experiences have helped shape him into a better man/husband/father has truly been one of the highlights of me being his wife thus far.
He has worked so hard for this.
It's not easy...
- STUDYING BIOLOGY - those classes are difficult and time-consuming
- BEING A FATHER OF TWO - juggling between family-life and school is hard on a dad, not to mention the times set aside to study being interrupted from tantrums, teething, sickness, etc. causing extreme exhaustion extremely often
- WORKING- sometimes two jobs, sometimes just two days a week, but always, he has worked while in school
- BEING A HUSBAND - going to school without honey-do lists, nagging and a live-in micro-manager would have been much, much easier and less stressful
- SERVING IN CHURCH - for the past two years, he's had a very time-consuming calling that he's always been on top of
- GOING AGAINST THE GRAIN - this makes him the first college graduate in his family, not only is he getting a Bachelors degree, but along the way he's had to really teach himself how to study and work hard

Congratulations Spencer!!!! So excited for the entire family. We were just talking about you guys and I said to Donny, I cannot imagine having our family while going to school in so many ways it would be a big challenge! You guys are my heros!!!! You do it with such grace. So excited for you, and sure do miss you!

ReplyDeleteWooo Hoo Buie's!! You going to move back to Washington now?? I'll keep my finger's crossed ;)
ReplyDeleteSpencer's Grandpa Buie would be so proud to have another grandchild who graduated from college. Grandpa Buie only had a 5th grade education. None of Spencer's Buie uncles/aunt have a college degree. Spencer now joins 6 other Buie cousins who have bachelor degrees. Several of those cousins are also doing masters programs and there are currently 3 or 4 others in bachelor programs. Way to go, Spencer.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations!! What an exciting time! Its a great feeling for all.
